CTTP Laboratory Certification

Single Test Certification option:

The CTTP Laboratory Certification Program has been in existence since the year 2000. In the time which has past since its inception, the program has evolved to try and meet the needs of the contractors, producers, and materials testing firms as well as satisfy the requirements of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHA).

The most recent need has arisen from the desire of some contractors to perform single test methods without equipping a full laboratory for certification. At the request of AHTD, the Center for Training Transporation Professionals (CTTP) has developed a single test qualification whereby a contractor may become certified to run individual tests in the certification areas of Soil and Portland Cement Concrete. The only individual test methods available for single test certification are:

AASHTO T 310 (In-Place Density and Moisture of Soil by Nuclear Method)
AASHTO T 152 (Air Content of Fresh Concrete by Pressure Method)

The process to obtain a single test qualification will be identical to that currently required for "full" laboratory qualification. The requirements and stipulations of the single test certification are as follows:

Enroll in the laboratory qualification program through CTTP and submit proper payment ($400 dollars per single test certification).
Prepare and submit a Quality Manual meeting all current requirements (for the single test method desired). An example single test Quality Manual for Soil or Concrete may be obtained on this website.
Arrange for an inspection of equipment required for the test method by an approved CTTP representative. Example arrangements include:
o Transport equipment to CTTP offices
o Contact and arrange an on-site inspection to coincide with regularly scheduled laboratory inspection(s) in a given geographic region.
o Special arrangements (may include an additional fee)
Qualification periods (e.g. 2 years) are identical to current qualification requirements.
